TruTag’s brand protection technology receives the prestigious 2014 R&D 100 Award

HONOLULU, HAWAII (July 14, 2014)– TruTag Technologies has been selected by R&D Magazine to receive the 2014 R&D 100 Award, naming the company’s covert “edible barcode” as one of the most significant tech innovations in America.

TruTag Technologies, Inc. is the developer of an edible, covert security platform to address the trillion dollar global counterfeit challenge. (“TruTags®”) are inert and edible, and can integrate into the fabric of a product without packaging or labels – much like fingerprints on a human being – for the authentication, tracking, and tagging of food, drugs, electronics, consumer products, and industrial components. Millions of optical patterns can be embedded into a TruTag, a dust-sized particle smaller than the width of a human hair.

Using this technology, brand owners, such as pharmaceutical or electronic companies, will be able to field-read finished products circulating in the wholesale and retail market to determine the authenticity and provenance of those products, including detailed information such as site and date of manufacture, lots, and other critical data without reliance on packaging or labels.
“We couldn’t be more honored by this recognition,” said Kent Mansfield, President of TruTag Technologies. “TruTag’s security solution is a vital weapon for brand protection in fighting the growing, global counterfeit industry, and we are proud to be among the impressive recipients of this year’s R&D 100 Award.”
